GUIDELINES FOR USHERS:
1. PLEASE! Try to be on hand 30 minutes before services start.
2. GREET PEOPLE: Meet everyone with a smile and a “good morning”. Make members and visitors feel welcome.
3. TEAM CAPTAINS are responsible for ringing the bell, light the nave, see that candles are lit, ventilation, get communion cards if a communion Sunday, and report attendance to the office.
4. LATE COMERS can be seated during the entrance hymn, NOT during the Call to Worship, Brief Order of Confession or during the Liturgy. Stand in doorways to prevent late-comers from entering at improper times.
5. OFFERING: Face front of church, turn uniformly to center.
6. DRESS APPROPRIATELY PLEASE.
7. USHERS shall participate in the service as much as possible.
8. UPON NOTIFICATION from the office, team captains are asked to get two ushers to serve at funerals or other special occasions.
9. AFTER SERVICES: TURN OFF LIGHTS, TURN DOWN HEAT in nave, entryway and hallway (60 degrees).
10. AFTER SERVICES: Clear all bulletins, papers, etc. from pews, check hymnal racks for garbage, straighten hymnals and Bibles.
11. PLEASE LET COMMUNION ASSISTANTS know of members present who will need communion brought to them in the pews.
